156B Week 10
Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Still no working coils from sponsor (aside from a few tester coils that he made that aren't good enough quality for the final motor).
Sponsor is looking at manufacturing coils from standard copper wire wrapped around a bobbin.
We started wiring up the necessary motor controller connections via deutsch connectors.
We received a motor controller testing device to try and test the motor controller without needing to attach coils.
However, we did not have the necessary power supply to drive the controller (we need at least 48 V, the highest we could do with provided equipment was 14.5 V)
Was able to successfully test one of the coils that sponsor was able to make.
Used a Tesla meter to take measurements of the magnetic field as a function of current and a function of radial distance.
Compared test results with predicted results
Very close results
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Started wiring up the motor controller and hall effect sensors.
Successfully tested a single coil and took magnetic field measurements.
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Finish report (Group)
Prepare final presentation (Group)
If sponsor can deliver coils in time, then fully assembly and testing of motor (Group)
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
May not have enough material or means to make coils from the copper ribbon. Instead will probably try to make coils out of standard copper wire in the mean time.
