Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
We have received the updated 3-D parts, and they are with Hrish in San Diego. Overall, we didn't expect the working concept to be this large. It feels good to make advancements in design, though.
The team believes we are one step closer to the final design.
The adjustable handle works pretty well - and works well with a 3-D printed cable. Though it is more rigid, the function of the cable still works - it is still adjustable.
Moreover, we are looking into purchasing a solid, cable with these terminations for our final working prototype.
We reduced the amount of notches in our current design, and optimized the space for key fobs in the box.
The upper-right notch in the box allows for the right end of the cable to be removable, as per request of the Rady Team.
It allows for the user to set their desired length for the cable, and not have to adjust that left side of the cable each and every time during use.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
The adjustable handle slot mechanism is finalized and finished. This is an aspect the team wants to move forward with. The terminations/ends of the cable fit in nicely with each notch in the box.
As aforementioned, we reduced the amount of notches and optimized the space for key fobs in the box.
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
We want to get the locking mechanism incorporated with our current design.
Though, we feel stuck because incorporating the MasterLock will only add space to the already large box, which we see as a huge design for usability, and ease of use in general.

The button lock is still the priority.
The design presented was nice, but they want to see it with the button lock.
The MasterLock is preferable to the Kidde Lock that we showed, but if the MasterLock cannot be implemented.
the Jacobs team should move forward with the Kidde Lock
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Last week, there was a strong suggestion to make a presentation to the sponsors and really push for presenting a more completed design that the team is really excited about.
vital to list out the details and be specific with the features in the presentation
This week is a turning point for the team, strong possibility of a huge moment with the sponsors.
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
no comments from students this week, but looking forward to feedback from peers next week
