156B Week 6
Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
We have received the 3-D part, it is currently in LA with Bryan. Here are the initial thoughts.
It fits pretty nicely in the hands, and is pretty good for user interface. However, the big problem with our current concept is that keys don't fit - we definitely want to add some dimensions all the while making the box as compact as possible.
We think the box does need to be a bit taller and wider in order to encompass keys and the locking mechanism.
The sponsors seemed to be pretty pleased with what we showed them.
However, we need to fix and finalize a few things: (1) the hinge, (2) locking mechanism
Accomplishments from Previous Week
We call this one Tebra Alpha!!! (?)
Fixed Hinge design - this aspect now in accordance with a MacBook-like flap/hinge
Received and put together a proof of concept, and tested for user interface
we believe we have a good solution to the adjustable handle; notches along the way, and the cable would simply be inserted into one of the notches. When the box is closed, the cable will not be able to move, so the cable is only adjustable when the box is open.
a redesign in the product, sent off to Chris Cassidy, will show tomorrow in presentation!
the internal team really likes this design and potentially wants to move forward with this, but we have some pushback from the sponsors
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
finalize/change the cable design
see how the new design from Chris (sent to Hrish) will act and function
order the cable Professor Delson suggested
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Pleased with the design we recently 3-D printed and sent to Bryan
just concerned on the size of the inner dimensions, wants to make it larger without sacrificing too much space
Adjustable handle - does not like the adjustable handle design as it currently is
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Professor Delson likes the daily meeting idea - says it is very effective and helps with organization
continue develop design details, and look into creating more 3-d printed parts
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
N/a no comments from other students as we did not have a presentation this week
