156B Week 2
Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
We are currently in the design process, and are looking to finalizing a few different designs. We were confused, initially, whether sponsors wanted the design to focus solely around hiding in front of the mirror or not. We confirmed with the sponsor this is not the case, just an option, see more below.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
established design specifications
got a clearer direction of which way we want to go moving forward
came up with a few more designs
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
tentative, will discuss and post today after meeting with professor and internal team after receiving feedback
likely - finalize design and move forward with FEA
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person
04/08 over zoom
Design does not need to be limited so that is solely supposed to be on the mirror, it is just an option that Yoshi suggested
Handle is required, does NOT need to be adjustable
Locking mechanism
Way to change combination is to change up some screws - OK at the moment, if it helps with design, “just do it”
button over latch preference
Manufacturing firm in Tijuana
Many companies have worked with them
Suggests we have something closer to a final design before we make the call
Metal or plastic?
Need drawings for initial cost production
Current design - Looks too bulky and too thick as well as too tall
The one provided, was compact how the RADY team prefers --> wants sleek and sexy & Design regardless of material

Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
last week over zoom: confirm design specifications of the product: lockbox should be (1) hid behind the mirror, or (2) flexible for user to attach at different points in the car?

Simple and concise slides
More figures needed
Neat & Clear oral explanation of project overview. I understood exactly what your problem was, and how your deliverables were affected. Great CAD images to explain in detail what you guys had in mind (key design solutions slide)
How would your solution work against physical threats (talk about Young's Modulus of the material you're using)? What materials are you considering? Would weather & humidity play into weakening the lock at all?
Risks and Areas of Concern
We are primarily concerned with design right now. We are worried if we quickly choose a design, we limit ourselves. However, if we don't move quickly enough, we will be stuck in the mud for a while.
Schedule
upcoming milestone (tentative) - finalize design, incorporate DFM, and potentially reach out to a few vendors
contingent upon feedback ^
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
nothing spent yet, full amount of $2000 still left
Progress on Report and Webpage
