Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
We have talked to the people at the Machine Shop regarding the how-to manufacture our current design and make it more for design for manufacturability such that the cost of mass production is low.
In terms of the design process, we have yet to determine the material we will use for the lockbox.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Our biggest accomplishment was that we narrowed our design to one specific way and eliminated all other designs we presented earlier to our sponsors.
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Our goals for next week are to finalize the intricate details of the lockbox such as how we would make the hinge be on the inside for less exposure and how we can make the handle adjustable.

Meeting on 4/17 (Over Zoom)
Sponsors narrowed the designs to one specific one out of the 4 proposed and asked for advice on manufacturing processes as well as material selection.
Sponsor's key requirement was to have the handle adjustable and change the design to have lock buttons on the top.
Meeting on 4/22 (Over Zoom)
Sponsor like the development of the design presented by Bryan
The sponsor also like the alternative handle design presented by Hrish and would like further design development on that.

Meeting on 4/17 (Over Zoom)
Instructor asked us to look up tools such as proto labs, the book going one to a million as well as looking up sheet metal and injection molding as a method of mass production.
Professor Delson also advised us to talk to people in the Machine Shop for their expert opinions regarding manufacturing.

Risks and Areas of Concern
Exposure of spaces near the hinge are could make the lock more prone to be broken into and hence we need tighter tolerances.
Making the handle adjustable might be not feasible and could have a limited life cycle.

Schedule
Finalize Design
Then select materials and prototype the design
Test the design and iterate if necessary. If everything works fine then ask the manufacturer from Mexico for a production quote.
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
Not spent anything this week, full $2000 left.
Progress on Report and Webpage
Still Waiting on the details of the design such as material selected and FEA analysis.
