156B Week 2
Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Material has been chosen for our final prototype for this class
We have made strides in the locking mechanism in the last few days, and plan to design a prototype of that out of acrylic as a proof of concept
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Extensive research into RFID technology to make sure the boards are back in their station
Two main designs developed for the locking mechanism
Elimination of some previous locking design ideas
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
RFID tags will be chosen and purchased for further testing- Amber
Design and fabrication of prototype locking mechanism will be completed- Nic and Eric
Final design and scale model will be completed by next week- Jason
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Sponsor expressed desire to move on from previous prototype and to start making more substantial leaps in the design process
The locking mechanism is clearly the most important next step, so we are finalizing a design and working on an acrylic prototype
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Implement RFID with microprocessor- looked at RFID technology
Able to utilize machine shop for metal work- Determined our material for next design
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
N/A
Risks and Areas of Concern
Fitting locking mechanism inside the metal bars may be difficult/ impossible
Resources or Information Required but not Available
Schedule
Once the prototype locking mechanism has been proven to work, fabricating a final design will be the next step
Once the RFID tags are purchased, we will need to implement them into our design
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
136.96 spent of 2000
1863.04 remaining
