Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Accomplishments from Week 8
Soldered all SMD components onto PCB
Identified improvements for 2nd version PCB
broke circuits into sections for unit tests
added better solder points for 3.3V, GND, RX, TX
added redundant GPIO
added one more photodiode mounting point
added test pads
ordered all electronic components needed + 2nd version PCB
CH340 was provided by sponsor, but we failed to get ESP32 to work with it for Serial-to-USB connection
ordered CP2102 and will try working with it
Agenda for Week 9
Hardware:
1. Upon arrival of all electronic components and 2nd version of PCB
machine PCB to fit with drone geometry
implement new soldering technique with stencils --> consulted Steve Roberts, Frank Cardone, and Steven Swanson
2. Test Components
ESP32/CP2102 : Serial-to-USB connection
OpAmp
IMU
3. Refine Photodiode Mount
Look for better 3D printer
Potentially change design for ease of wiring
Software:
1. IMU?
2. Get Kalman Filter to Work?
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting
2019/5/24 in person: Week 10 Thursday 4-6pm will work for the presentation
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Prototyping Lab might work slow
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
2019/5/23 in person: David seems to know more about the prototyping lab
Risks and Areas of Concern
Soldering the IMU can be tricky. Pad width and pad spacing are only 0.2mm.
