156B Week 6
Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Third prototype cheduled for the weekend before week 8.
Pouch for holding the clamp on the girdle, in addition to strapping it down.
Longer Leg straps.
Have soft velcro on the leg straps so that it doesn’t chafe patient’s inner thighs
Find a longer clamp
Attended procedure last Friday and took away valuable information, such as the time and space constraints as well as the lack of movement during the whole procedure. Thus perfect stability is not necessary since the amount of movement during the procedure has been overstated thus far.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Tested putting the plastic supports into Girdle
Provides more rigidity
Tested Slotted U-Ring design [Cameron]
Attended procedure last Friday
Will not be pursuing slotted U-Ring design due to lack of access and difficulty using across patients.
Patient noted that the worst part of the procedure was the feeling of the board underneath them during the procedure -> removing the board will greatly increase patient comfort.
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Figure out the optimal way to attach clamp to girdle (pocket?) [Team]
Get “final” iteration of girdle design to Druann’s hands. [Team]

Girdle: Very pleased with the new prototype.
Longer leg straps
Have something rigid in/under the center strap (we’re going to start with a pocket)
One time use girdle is totally fine for sanitation standards.
Have the first linkage of the clamp be extendable, up to two times its current length.
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Fail fast frequently.
Iteration #3 of the girdle is currently being designed, will have manufactured the weekend before week 8.
Be aware that you have two consumers, the patient and the clinician.
Clinician is main consumer, patient’s needs (i.e. comfort) will be secondary to the clinicians needs by and large.
Make the report more concise.
