Weekly Progress Report

Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.

• • Decided to move towards an underwear-like pelvic girdle instead of an external clamping device.  Will acquire preliminary prototype in the next week from Druann. The findings from the individual component analysis’ will allow us to move forward towards a final design relatively quickly.

Accomplishments from Previous Week

• • Finalized design goal.

  • Assigned individual component analysis topics, completed by Friday of Week 1.

  • Contacted Druann and she has begun to model a physical design for us.

• • Update prototype feedback document to include new suggestions from class (worst aspect of design, …) [Keenan]

  • Acquire physical pelvic girdle design from Druann [Team]

  • Experiment with the attachment of c-clamp to pelvic girdle [Shichen & Team]

  • Review individual component analysis and move towards a final material [Keenan], tandem clamp design [Megan], clamp-pelvic girdle interface [Shichen], and joints for the mechanical arm [Cameron].

-> Had another impromptu meeting with Dr. Mayadev and gave a quick presentation to fellow doctors.

• • Learned more material constraints

    • Highly preferable to be disposable due to difficulty cleaning

    • +1 to using Velcro

    • Needs to be able to pass their safety standards [hence disposable is preferable]

    • Could possibly use a disposable liner within garment to mitigate contamination
