Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Fabrication setbacks have pushed back the final fabrication
First setback was the discovery of a cracked coupler when installing the fins into the fin sleeve. A new coupler was obtained and machined
Second setback was during the gluing process. When sliding the fin sleeves onto the rear 4" pipe, the thickness of the PVC cement caused the fin sleeve to get stuck while partially on the pipe. In order to salvage the pipe the team had to cut off the fin sleeve with a hack saw. A sander was used to remove the dried PVC cement and primer. A new coupler has been obtained and machined
Parts are ready for the final assembly. Will be assembled Monday 3/6/17
RTV Silicon sealing of float 3/7/17
Static test will be performed this week, likely Wednesday 3/8/17
SIO pressure vessels either too small, or can't work with our low pressures. Leak test will be performed at a pool instead of SIO facilities.
Final dynamic test is being scheduled with SPAWAR on 3/24/17
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Testing of new sensor software
Discovered that the original bug is still in the updated software.
Trial of an older version of the software 3/7/17 (Aaron and Harry)
Sensor Housing Test
Discovered the sensor housing is not buoyant. The 3-D portions of the housing are difficult to seal to prevent leakage.
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Determine final sensor mounting position and parts that will be used (Alan)
Purchase hardware that needs to be 316 steel to be marine grade (Alan)
Perform static test (All)
Create final SolidWorks assemblies (Harry, Tung, Alan)
Work on Algorithm and user guide for final deliverable (Aaron)
Prepare for dynamic testing (Harry)
Work on presentation poster (Kendra)

Everything looks great
Final Algorithm doesn't need to be a full algorithm due to the newly discovered characteristics of the system (doesn't reach or maintain terminal velocity)
Weights for testing have been borrowed from Mr. Gillcrist
Sponsor would prefer an older version of software without glitches over reconsideration of new sensors
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Turn in weekly reports on time
Use metric even for PVC pipe diameters
Pedro said it would be ok to perform the final test after the final poster session. Just write all of the report up until that section and update the report for final grading. Need to confirm with Dr. T

Schedule
Static Test will happen this week once float is finished, likely Wednesday 3/8/17
Leak check will be performed at the same time, 3/8/17
Dynamic test 3/24/17
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
$1,034 remaining of the $2500 budget
Progress on Report and Webpage
Update in progress. Waiting to finish the final SolidWorks assemblies to annotate.
