Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Next step of the float design is to optimize the bail position and mass required to trim the float
Sensor housing concept has been modeled in SolidWorks
Several changes have been made to change the mounting position from the original idea of mounting the sensors to a housing on the float.
A drop test of the float will happen in Canyon View Pool when the float has been configured with the trim position
Just received all the data from Mark Gillcrist
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Static test of the float has been completed in Canyon View Pool on 1-31-2017. The results have validated our calculations
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Evaluate sensor housing design to determine if it is optimal for the system (ALAN & KENDRA)
Fabricate bail mechanism (HARRY)
Fabricate trim weight (AARON)
Alter original fin design to potentially enlarge the fins (TUNG)
Schedule test at Canyon View Pool (ALAN)
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Create a simulation of the forces in the entire system to find the force on the cable
Go piece by piece in order to prevent large errors and perform sanity checks
Determine the weights required for the drop tests

Risks and Areas of Concern
The bail position changes a lot with the system in terms of how quickly the float flips. The dynamic stability of the float is still unknown until a test is performed
Resources or Information Required but not Available
Schedule
Determine the bail position and construct bail for the test
Begin simulation on the entire system
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
Spent $ 851.78 at Harrington Industrial Supply
Spent $ 41.43 at Rockler Woodworking
Remainder: $ 3106.79
