Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Met with sponsor to discuss whether or not the BIOPAC filter currently used at the CFMRI are suitable for our project and can be used for our sensor data.
Purchased 4 FlexiForce sensors and awaiting package delivery this week
Talked with Steve about availability of parts for filters.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Ordered FlexiForce sensors last week, which are supposed to arrive in the next day or two
Found twisted pair shielded cable in sponsor's supply cabinet
Investigated existing signal conditioning units/data acquisition systems owned by sponsor
Received quote for optical pressure transducer-- far outside project price range, and excessive lead time
Performed research on BIOPAC filters currently in use at CFMRI
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Once FlexiForce sensors are received, begin testing and calibrating (team)
Test filters with FlexiForce sensors connected (team)
Look for shielded cables long enough to reach from MRI machine to control room (team)
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Look into whether NI USB-6221 DAQ has filtering. After looking through the datasheet, we discovered there appears to be no filtering capability (other than debounce filters) on the DAQ
Look into BIOPAC filters and determine capability with our project. We found the corresponding BIOPAC products online and began looking at their functions and inputs.
Order FlexiForce sensors as soon as possible. We placed the order last week.
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Look further into optical pressure transducers. We found from the sales rep. that they priced the sensor at $425 with a 3-4 week lead time.
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
One student mentioned looking into higher order filters for our system.
Risks and Areas of Concern
We have a length of twisted pair shielded cable, but it's not long enough, and contains more wires than necessary - okay for testing but need to consult with instructor for potential cable suppliers for the final product.
Ensuring FlexiForce sensors provide accuracy and resolution listed in datasheets
Make sure filters function properly and attenuate high frequency noise from MRI machine
Success in connecting our device to existing data acquisition system.
Work has been delayed by slow shipping of FlexiForce
Resources or Information Required but not Available
none
Schedule
Calibrate FlexiForce sensors (calibration processes for each product)
Test calibrated FlexiForce with filter setup
Test the FlexiForce when placed by a strong handheld magnet.
Update Gantt chart
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
$93.86 spent on FlexiForce sensors (remaining ~$506.14)
Progress on Report and Webpage
