Weekly Progress Reports (see sidebar), the Gantt chart, and this Project Management page should be printed out before meetings with the sponsor and instructor.
All team members should be able to explain all items on the progress report.
Place a "*" at the beginning of the title of the active week Progress Report (see * in sidebar).
Project Objectives:
High Priority Objectives
Safety
Measurement of forces (specifically of lateral pinch)
Second Priority Objectives
Measurement of position
Configuration for different motion measurements (i.e. hand squeeze, leg bracing)
Other Constraints and Issues
Working in an MRI environment
No magnetic components
Need to be careful about noise introduced by the MRI
WOW Design Solution
Wireless
Configurable for different motions and body sizes
Risk Reduction Strategy
Largest Risk:
The MRI environment itself is the major risk. It will restrict the materials we can use as well as potentially introduce noise into the signals
Risk Reductions:
Option 1: Research MR-compatible components and previous work done. Our sponsor has collaborators who are willing to meet with us and discuss.
Option 2: Use a strong magnet to simulate the MRI environment and see how it affects signals
Intermediate Milestones
After discussing with our sponsor, we decided the project has two "phases". The first phase involves getting a prototype working outside of the MRI environment.
The second phase involves testing that prototype inside the MRI environment and tuning it to work.
With this in mind we came up with the following milestones:
3/21: Risk Reduction Due
4/7: Individual Component Analysis
Week 5: Have a prototype working outside of MRI environment
Week 6-7: Have testing in MRI environment done and start modifications
Finals Week: Final product due
