Guidelines for Report
Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Have ordered parts and are waiting for shipping. Ready for fabrication, testing and integration.
Fabricating end cap pieces
Accomplishments from Previous Week
I Have researched lights and have decided on a NEW light system. (diana)
I will present sponsor with 2 options for power regulators, batteries and prices.(diana)
I was able to get a code for a 10% discount for the power system! (Diana)
Ordered compass and pressure sensor and bought breadboard (Jeanette)
Wrote first draft of code for I2C communication (Jeanette)
Finished CAD drawing of End Caps and Housing/Finished machining end caps (Jamie/Tyler/Vanna)
Wrote pseudo code/drafts for I2C/Ain. Determined pinouts/communication method to cameras (Jamie)
Created a series of experiments for our prototype to test various concerns and fabrication methods (Jamie)
Redesigned interior frame to represent current design. (Tyler)
Worked on report draft (Tyler, Vanna, Jeanette)
Discussed two camera lens options with Sunex expert (Vanna)
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Finalize Power budget and decide on a power regulator and controller (diana).
Build sensor system and start testing code (Jeanette)
Finish assembling prototype and begin experiments (Jamie).
Order required parts for final model, after testing (everyone!)
Write more on report draft. (Tyler)
Make something new to show at the proof of concept meeting (Tyler)
Discuss lens options with sponsor
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
A concern about battery overheating inside tube was raised during the presentation. I called the OceanServer and spoke to their engineers about this issue. They examined my particular case and told me that the load carried the batteries was perfectly safe. The batteries are designed for underwater robots and they do not need a cooling system because the water and outside environment serves as a cooling system. The engineer mentioned that the batteries have to be place as close to the wall as possible. (diana)
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
O-rings and grooves were off and ability to remove end caps were discussed. 3 screws per end cap will serve as a means to release end caps.
Method to connect wires to the two tubes, without needing to couple the two cylinders, using under water cables called Teledyne.
Risks and Areas of Concern
How to mount pressure sensor of cylinder to avoid having to thread from the inside of cylinder (Jeanette)
