Progress Report : Week 2
Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Exploring design options, final research and reviewing them with our sponsor. Testing small-scale.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Chose a lighting system( Diana Lopez)
Found smart batteries manufacturer and Power Regulator Kit (Diana Lopez)
Confirmed pressure vessel design and materials (w/ O-ring design) (Jamie)
Designed optimized nose cone and how to fabricate/attach it. (Jamie)
Design/order/fabricate/test small-scale pressure vessel for testing. (Jamie)
Decided to use GoPro cameras (Vanna)
Decided on using a Teensy++ microcontroller (Jeanette)
Determined sensor needs and decided models to order (Jeanette)
Began EagleCAD circuit diagram for sensors (Jeanette)
Puchased material for aluminum frame to make a small scale prototype. (Tyler)
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Lighting system may not be best option. Research is being done. (Diana Lopez)
Progress made on power system. More research to be done. Diana Lopez)
Design/Order/Fabricate/Test small scale test vessel for experimentation (Jamie McCormick)
Determine how components will be mounted into internal structure (Jamie McCormick and Vanna)
Find a vendor for narrow field of view lenses (Vanna)
Meet with Steve Roberts to get input on sensor setup (Jeanette)
Write code for temperature sensor and begin code for pressure sensor (Jeanette Cobian)
Order parts needed for frame design
Create a prototype with material we have (Tyler)
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
Viewing area of cylinder housing for cameras redesigned and change end cap matr’l (Jamie)
Testing of prototype with just one camera needs to be done(Vanna)
Interior design must account for vibrations (Tyler)
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
Testing issues: Decided to make a prototype with just one camera first
Risks and Areas of Concern
Optical clarity of images through acrylic and rigidity of internal frame.
Battery system being able to fit inside current design.
Schedule
Need to create a small prototype to test for feasibility before ordering expensive parts.
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
*no money spent as of today remaining balance $5,000
