Become an Elysian Volunteer or Chaperone

All volunteers and chaperones are required to complete a fingerprint background check, which is a two-step process. Please note that processing time can take 1 to 6 weeks.

Step 1: Complete the Required Form

1. Download and complete the Volunteer & Chaperone Background Check form (attached below).

2. Bring the form to the Elysian office; your signature must be witnessed by specific staff members.

Step 2: Obtain Fingerprints

You have two options for obtaining your required background fingerprints:

Option 1: Lockwood School (Recommended for speed)

• Cost: $40

• Method: Live Scan (fastest return time).

• Action: Call (406) 252-6022 to make an appointment. Walk-ins are not allowed.

Option 2: Billings Police Department

• Cost: Up to $50 total

• Method: Ink-based fingerprints (slower processing time).

• Action:

  • Get your fingerprints at the Police Department (cost up to $25).

  • Return the paper card to the Elysian office with an additional $25 check made payable to Montana Criminal Records and Identification Services.
