Distance Formula: AB= |a-b| or |b-a|
Finding the distance between two points on a number line.
The distance will always be positive. It is just asking for the total distance between two points, whether it goes into the negatives or positives.
Example: Point A is -1 and point B is 5
AB= |-1-5|= 6 or |5- -1|=6
Distance Formula: This equation is used to find the distance of two points on a coordinate plane.
Example:
√(-2--8)2 + (7-3)2 = √36+16= √52
Midpoint: The point that is exactly in the middle between two points is called the midpoint and can be found by two different equations.
