Disease recognition, reporting & communication training for small abattoirs

The project, funded by the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources was a collaboration between the NSW Department of Primary Industries (NSW DPI), the NSW Food Authority and MINTRAC.

The large number of animals congregating at abattoirs and knackeries means these facilities play a crucial role in the early identification and reporting of emergency animal disease.

The Disease Recognition, Reporting and Communication Training for Small Abattoirs Supplying the Domestic Market project saw staff administer questionnaires and along with visiting abattoirs and knackeries to assess the EAD capacity and readiness of domestic facilities in NSW.
