Art Students League of Denver

The Art Students League of Denver is a non-accredited fine arts school, gallery, and site of frequent neighborhood art fairs and events. Regionally and nationally recognized working artists offer classes and workshops in a wide selection of media. Summer KidArt Camps are one and two-week morning or afternoon camps for kids in grades one through eleven. Classes are offered in an assortment of media and themes and are divided by age and ability. Supervised care is offered before, in-between, and after all workshops.

Bits, Bytes & Bots Computer Adventures

For summer camps, offers morning and afternoon week-long half-day programs Jun-Aug in robotics and programming, movie making, game creation, and 3D game creation. Kids can learn skills that help them in school and beyond. Each child is provided with their own computer to work on during class. Students receive both individual and group instruction.

Camp Invention

Camp Invention is a nationally recognized summer day camp that integrates science, math, history, and the arts. This one-week program fosters creativity, teamwork, inventive thinking skills, and science literacy. Camp Invention enables children to learn through fun hands-on experiences, subject immersion, and discovery.

Camp Shakespeare

Camp Shakespeare is a 14-year-old education program run by the Colorado Shakespeare Festival. For three weeks in the summer, kids ages 10-18 come to CU Boulder’s campus and study Shakespeare with CSF professionals.

Colorado Math Circle

Interested in broadening your mathematical knowledge and sharpening your analytical thinking? Join the Colorado Math Circle for exciting math talks and problem solving sessions hosted by the University of Colorado at Boulder. Speakers will include math professors and mathematicians from around the state. Topics are expected to include number theory, combinatorics, probability, geometry, and group theory.

CU Science Discovery

Science Discovery, established in 1983, is an experience-based educational outreach program of the University of Colorado in Boulder. Science Discovery's mission is to stimulate scientific interest, understanding, and literacy among Colorado's youth, teachers, and families by interfacing with university resources and academic expertise. Science Discovery is dedicated to engaging the whole person in the journey of learning, and strengthening individual capacities to participate actively in local and world communities. Programs include after-school classes, homeschool classes, summer programs, and wilderness camps. They also offer professional development programs for teachers

CU Young Writer's Camp

The 2013 Denver Writing Project Young Writers Camp is back! Last year more than 90 students participated in our workshops. Spend five days with other kids and teens (Grades 5-12) who love to write and want to improve their craft.

Davidson Institute for Talent Development

In search of a one-of-a-kind summer camp experience? Gifted students interested in a challenging academic summer program should consider attending the Davidson THINK Summer Institute on the campus of the University of Nevada, Reno. This intense three-week residential summer program offers exceptionally gifted 13- to 16-year-old students the opportunity to earn up to six transferable college credits.

Deer Hill Expeditions

Denver Botanic Gardens

Opportunities abound for kids and families to explore the world of plants year round at Denver Botanic Gardens. From birth through the teenage years, a variety of opportunities are available.

Denver Center Theater Academy

The Denver Center Theatre Academy provides aspiring theatre artists with the opportunity to develop their talents and skills. The Children's Program offers a variety of classes designed to introduce students to theatre and expand their imaginations through drama games and activities. Classes are offered for children ages 2 1/12 through 12. During summer break, the Academy offers week-long drama programs that meet daily from 9am-4pm. The Teen Program offers a range of classes for kids ages 13 and older. Class are taught daily, lasting one or two weeks, in the summer.

Denver Museum of Nature and Science

The Denver Museum of Nature & Science offers fun, exciting and educational week long summer camps on dinosaurs, space science, rocks and much, much more. Camps are offered the week of June 9th - through August 15th, 2008. Camps are available for ages 4-5 through 6th grade. Partial scholarships are available for families with a documented annual income of $30,000 or less.

Denver Zoo

Come spend a week with Denver's wildest residents! Summer Safari is a fun-filled educational experience for animal lovers from preschool to those going into fifth grade. Campers participate in hands-on activities, animal visits and observations, crafts, games, stories, projects, and zoo tours. Activities are designed specifically for each age group.

Exporati Teen Writer's Boot Camp

Founded in 2009, the Explorati Teen Writers Boot Camp has brought together some of the best professional writers in Northern Colorado to teach teens who love to write. Our tracks have included Fiction, Advanced Fiction, Screenwriting, Poetry and Non-Fiction, taught by award-winning writers like Victoria Hanley, Amy Kathleen Ryan, Todd Mitchell, Veronica Patterson and Dr. Laura Prichett. In 2011, we even held our first ever Film & Theater Camp!

Hands on History Camp

"Young pioneers can spend an engaging and educational week learning hands-on about life in the 1800s. Kids can make butter, play 1800s-style baseball and games, make pioneer food using a wood stove, make cornhusk dolls and other crafts, mine for gold, and feed the chickens. The outdoor program meets Monday through Friday. Scholarships may be available."

iD Tech Camps

iD Tech Camps offers week long, day and overnight, hands-on technology summer camps for students ages 8-17 at universities nationwide. They provide a safe and fun environment, where campers learn the latest technology from carefully-selected, passionate instructors. Campers select from the following week long beginning to advanced programs: Digital Video & Movie Production, Multimedia & Game Creation, Web Design & Graphics Arts, Programming & Robotics, and Stop Motion Animation.

Las Chicas de Matematicas

2013 Las Chicas de Matematicas: UNC Math Camp for Young Women. This is a FREE residential math camp where young women are introduced to college mathematics, are exposed to college life, engage with other young women who enjoy mathematics, and network with women with STEM related careers. I am hoping to secure funds for 20-30 girls who will be in grades 9-12 during the 2012-2013 academic year to participate.

Rocky Mountain Chess Camps

Coed, All ability levels, Open to ages 6-18 Participants will be divided into similar ability groups (beginner, intermediate, advanced) and age groups for sessions focusing on all aspects of the game including scorekeeping and chess etiquette. Students will compete in mini tournaments for trophies and as well as play in a simultaneous exhibition against an instructor. Camp instructors are excellent chess teachers, strong USCF rated players and are personally trained in the curriculum by Todd Bardwick. Student to Staff ratio averages 8:1 or better. Great care is taken to place stude! nts int o correct age and ability groupings before the camp begins in order to custom design the camp curriculum to maximize the chess learning experience for all students.

Space Voyage Summer Camp

Space Voyage programs bring to life the importance of math and science, reinforces concepts identified in academic content standards, build confidence through genuine achievement and offer a fun place for kids to imagine the possibilities, learn and grow. Parents of gifted children report that the program is challenging and supportive of their gifted children. The Summer Camp offers 10 weeks to choose from for ages 5-16.

Summer Enrichment Program (UNC)

These university programs are designed primarily for students entering grades 5-10. Students enroll in four classes for 10 days to explore their interests. Students select activities ranging from research to arts & crafts. Saturday sessions led by experts from the university provide an additional opport! unity f or learning. The cost includes two weeks housing, food, tuition and staff fees. Two 2-weeks sessions offered each summer.

Wild Bear Center for Nature Discovery

The Wild Bear Center for Nature Discovery offers year round hands-on educational programs to people of all ages to foster a life long appreciation of the environment and to promote an environmentally aware, responsible and ecologically sound community. Summer programs, school year programs, and outreach programs are available.

Young Writers' Workshop at the Aspen Summer Words Writers Conference

The Young Writers Workshop is for teenagers (ages 14-18) who are ready for an adventure in storytelling while making new friends. In this workshop, writers will play with free-writing to jumpstart creativity, brainstorm with other writers to find out how to make their stories better and discover what it takes to become a great writer.

YUNASA campers are highly gifted individuals between the ages of10 and 14 who are performing at the middle school level or above and are ready to explore the natural environment, gain new confidence and skills, meet new friends, and be challenged to achieve their personal best. Bluff Lake Nature Center Summer Camp (Ages 6-12) - Bluff Lake Nature Center is a nonprofit agency that owns and manages a unique urban wildlife refuge and outdoor classroom in northeast Denver, near Stapleton. The refuge is home to an abundance of animals and native plants, which thrive in a variety of habitats. There are two different week long summer camps to choose from.

Camp Invention (Grades 1-9) - Inspires girls and boys to think BIG and imagine how they can change the world for the better one day! This one-of-a-kind weeklong experience connects science, technology, engineering and math through fun hands-on activities. The program allows students to learn about creative problem solving (and so much more!) in teams grouped by age. There is also a Counselor-in-Training program for 7-9th graders.

Center for Bright Kids (Ages 8-17) - Residential summer programs for high-ability, high interest students offering a wide variety of subjects. Classes are held at the Colorado School of Mines campus in Golden, CO.

Colorado College Summer Program for Gifted and Talented (Grades Rising 1-6) - offers a three-week summer program for gifted elementary school students for rising 1st through 6th graders, which are designed to challenge the children’s intellectual and creative abilities. Located in Colorado Springs.

Colorado School of Mines EPICS (Engineering Practices Introductory Course Sequence) Program (High School) - On the cutting edge of design curricula, the EPICS Program invites high school students to attend a weeklong summer camp on the Mines campus in Golden, Colorado. The objective of the camp is to guide participants through a fun and rewarding hands-on experience of authentic engineering design practices.

Colorado School of Mines SUMMET (Summer Multicultural Engineering Training) (Rising 11th & 12th Graders) - A science and engineering program combining course work, hands-on projects, industry tours, sporting activities, and social events. SUMMET is an excellent stepping stone to the lifestyle and challenges of college. Students from across the nation stay in Mines’ residence halls, experience life as a college student, and receive instruction in trigonometry & calculus, chemistry, geology, computer science, physics and basic to advanced engineering concepts.

Colorado Shakespeare Festival Summer Camps (Ages 6-18) - CSF Education offers summer camps for kids and teens on the CU-Boulder campus to expand their understanding of Shakespeare through engagement and practice.

Colorado State University Pre-College Summer Programs (Ages 15-18) - "Students completing 9th, 10th or 11th grade are eligible for the unique opportunity to experience college life in a “non-pressured” atmosphere where crucial life skills including time management, independence and community style living flourish. All students enrolled in our high school summer enrichment programs at Colorado State University have the option of taking a variety of career exploration classes, community service based workshops, The Princeton Review SAT Prep with ACT Boost and more."

Crow Canyon Archaeological Center (Ages 12-18) - offers summer programs for teens (middle school and high school), including a nationally recognized field school for high school students. Located in southwest Colorado, near Mesa Verde National Park, Crow Canyon Archaeological Center programs offer a rare opportunity for students to do hands-on archaeology at the pre-college level.

CU Science Discovery Summer Camp (Grades K-12) - offers K-12 students the opportunity to explore STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) in Boulder and Denver.

Denver Dumb Friends League (Grades 3-8) - offers seasonal camps for kids and teens in support of DDFL's goal to teach children and young adults the importance of treating animals in a humane way, a lesson that will benefit them and the animals in our community for a lifetime. Camps are available at the shelters in Denver, Castle Rock as well as at the Harmony Equine Center in Franktown.

Denver Museum of Nature and Science (Rising 11th & 12th Graders) - The Teen Science Scholars (TSS) internship provides high school students opportunities to work in the Archives, Anthropology, Earth Sciences, Health Sciences, Museum Conservation, Space Sciences, and Zoology departments at the Museum. Selected students will be involved with various aspects of their mentors’ research and/or collections programs. Each student will present an overview of their TSS work at an annual symposium held at the Museum at the end of the summer. This program introduces students interested in science careers to various aspects of museum research and/or collections work and helps strengthen investigative and communication skills.

Dinosaur Ridge Summer Camp (Ages 6-12) - "Do you have a dinosaur or rock enthusiast at home? Would they like to explore over 300 dinosaur footprints and dozens of other fossils from Colorado this summer? Or would they rather identify, collect, and label rocks and minerals for their collections while learning how Colorado was built layer by layer? This year the Friends of Dinosaur Ridge are offering 8 camps designed for your kids to learn about Colorado’s history and prehistory. Filled with activities ranging from measuring REAL dinosaur footprints to collecting rocks from local formations, Dinosaur Ridge Summer Camps can’t be beat!"

Foothills Art Center (Ages 4-12) - offers seven weeks of visual arts programming for ages 4-6 and 7-12. Guided by professional artists and arts educators, camps integrate visual arts activities with science, technology and mathematics. Our programs are designed with the Denver Public Schools Curriculum Standards in mind to provide a powerful supplement to your child’s education during the summer months.

Gold Crown Enrichment Summer Camps (Grades 2-10) - Offers art and technology camps along with athletic camps. The organization operates with a mission to provide opportunities and “Educate Youth and Community Through Sports and Enrichment Programs.”

Golden History Museum Summer Camp (Ages 6-11) - Hands-on History is a weeklong summer day camp that gets kids excited about local history. Offers several half and full day programs.

Internal Drive (iD) Tech Camp (Ages 6-18) - offer summer technology programs at over 60 prestigious universities nationwide including in Denver and Fort Collins.

Jeffco 4-H ENOR Environmental Discovery Camp (Grades 3-6) - is a nationally recognized, award-winning 4-H program that has offered quality environmental education and experiences since 1974. The program offers students entering 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade an opportunity to explore Colorado's natural and cultural history.

Jeffco GT Hawaiian Wilderness Experience (Current 6th Graders) - The Hawaiian Wilderness Education Program will focus on three broad areas which contribute to meeting Jeffco Public Schools curricula standards; Science, Geography and History.

Jeffco SPARKS (Ages 4-14) - is a two week gifted and talented summer camp where children from 4-14 years of age choose from various creative classes being offered. Children can take from one to four classes that are taught daily for two weeks. The last day is a half day Share Fair where parents can see what their children have been working on in class.

Metropolitan State University of Denver (MS) - Center for Advanced STEM Education Summer Program (Grade 6-8) - Summer Science Institute 2015. For the seventeenth summer, middle school students (6th, 7th, 8th grade) have the opportunity to explore fun applications of math and science in an exciting, hands-on, team-oriented atmosphere on the Auraria Campus. In each session, the Metropolitan State University faculty will teach morning and afternoon classes based on Colorado content standards in an integrated setting. Students will be provided lunch each day, and a day-long field trip to Elitch Gardens will conclude each two-week camp. Daily attendance is required. All activities are supervised.

Metropolitan State University of Denver (HS) - Center for Advanced STEM Education Summer Program (High School) - The Summer Science Scholars program is geared toward minority youth and addresses their under-representation in choosing careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. In its tenth year, the Summer Science Scholars program will give students entering 10th through 12th grade the chance to explore biologyand mathematics concepts in depth. This program is designed to help facilitate these students getting into college. The classes are rigorous, and daily attendance is required.

Profoundly Gifted Retreat (PGR) (Grades K-12) - Summer retreats to bring profoundly gifted children and teenagers together for shared connections and community. Although every child is unique and beautiful in his or her own way, profoundly gifted children often have a difficult time finding true peers within their day-to-day communities. Our gatherings provide an opportunity to meet, learn, socialize, and yes, just hang out with other kids and teens who are developmentally advanced. In fact, many attendees fondly refer to the Retreat as their 'annual family reunion'.

Quill Kids Summer Camp (Ages 6-12) - a recreational program based in Denver that guides budding authors through a challenging yet rewarding experience of creative and non-fiction writing. The goal is to introduce excitement and understanding to the writing process, in an informal group setting, using innovative techniques that make putting words on paper naturally easy and fun. The Quill Kids concept and success comes from director Iretta Bell, elementary school literacy teacher and Fellow of the National Writing Project.

Renaissance Adventures Summer Camp (Ages 6-18) - Be the hero of a mythic quest! These adventures lead children and teens on an amazing journey, solving puzzles and riddles, exploring mythic realms, and swashbuckling with foes using safe, foam swasher swords.

Santa Fe Institute (High School) - Complexity and Modeling Program (CAMP) is an intensive two-week residential science Summer CAMP that introduces participants to complexity science scholarship. Through individual projects, computer simulation activities, analysis of ecological data, lectures and seminars, along with related weekend activities, students conduct research in this cutting edge field. Days are made up of instruction, small working group sessions, and research time interleaved with sports and extra-curricular events.

Space Voyage Summer Camp (Ages 5-16) - Offers an intensive program of learning and confidence building within a space motif. Space Voyage brings to life the importance of math and science. The camp is designed so different age students focus on different program components. All programs are offered in all weeks so kids can come when it fits the family calendar for as many weeks as they wish.

St. Mary's Academy Summer Programs (Grades 2-12) - Offers a variety of options, including athletic. In addition, they have math for girls camps.

Summer Institute for the Gifted (SIG) (Ages 5-17) - This program of the National Society for the Gifted and Talented (NSGT) offers three-week academic summer camps for gifted and talented students ages 5 to 17. The program combines academics with engaging social, cultural and recreational opportunities. Students can choose from many different campuses (all out of state) including Yale, Princeton and the University of Chicago. Residential, commuter and day programs are available.

Swallow Hill Music Camp (Ages 6-18) - Swallow Hill Music has been teaching kids, teens, and tweens since 1979, and what better way for them to delve into music than through one of their summer music camps! House of Rock ages 13-18, Belt It Out! ages 10-13, Explore! Music ages 6-9, and Bluegrass in Paradise (Crested Butte) ages 7-17.

University of Colorado Science Discovery (Ages 5-18) - An experience-based educational outreach program of the University of Colorado in Boulder. Programs include after-school classes, homeschool classes, summer programs, and wilderness camps. (click on 'Search Classes' for a list of programs)

University of Northern Colorado Summer Enrichment Program (Ages 4-18) - The Center for the Education and Study of the Gifted, Talented, Creative Learners at the University of Northern Colorado offers three summer

programs for children and youth with a wide array of class choices.

Young Americans Center for Financial Education Summer Camps (Grades 2-6) - Cool camps from Young Americans Bank in Denver, the only bank in the entire world specifically designed for young people ages 21 and younger. The mission of Young Americans Center for Financial Education is to further the economic education of young people so they will be competent and knowledgeable in managing their financial affairs and may prosper in the free enterprise system.

Yunasa West in Colorado (Ages 10-15) - A weeklong camp experience for highly gifted youth. The mission of Yunasa is to teach campers techniques and skills for integrating the intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual and physical aspects of their lives. Yunasa is devoted to reminding bright young people that they are more than just intellect. There is also a camp in Michigan.
