For the week of
August 20th
Important Student Information
*Very Important, Please Read*- Official Count Day: Douglas County School District is funded via the Public School Finance Act of 1994. Funding is based on the number of students present on the “official count day” which is Thursday, October 1st. Chaparral’s budget is based on the number of students that are counted on this day. Therefore, on Thursday, October 1st any parent/guardian who has given a blanket excuse for homeroom should be aware that for this day all blanket excuses are waived and all students are expected to be in their homeroom. If your student is ill, please forward our regular attendance policy. Thank you for your support.
CHS Attendance Policy and Procedures
The CHS Attendance Office would like to remind all families of the attendance policy. In order for an absence to be excused, it must be reported to the Attendance Office within 48 hours by a parent/guardian (unless permission is granted by a CHS sport or club).
This year, CHS has a new system to address unexcused/unverified absences. Students will personally receive written notification of any absences from the previous day that were not called in by a parent/guardian. If the absence should have been excused, it must be done within the 48 hour window. If the absence is not excused, the student must report to After School detention and/or Saturday School at the time and location provided on the notification given to them in class.
Parents/guardians have the ability to use Infinite Campus to receive text, e-mail and phone notifications. By accessing and altering these settings, parents/guardians can change their individual preferences for a wide variety of school-related events. Some of these include: * Notification that your son/daughter has a tardy or absence that has not been excused * Viewing of new assignments and missing assignment notifications * Notification of a grade that has been posted or modified
The CHS website has a section that is devoted to providing parents with the information they need regarding Infinite Campus (including the mobile app), its tools and how to properly utilize it. Please take some time to become familiar with this tool and customize it to fit your needs by using this link. As you set your notification settings please use caution and do not share your login information with your student and be sure to excuse all absences within 48 hours.
