Below is a list of questions that new parents often ask. We hope that you find them helpful.

Please keep in mind that in high school it is a wonderful time for a student to self-advocate and that for most matters they should be the first to reach out.

¨ How do I find out about Attendance?

¨ If my students has an appointment during the school day, how do excuse them?

Please call the Attendance line at 303.387.3502 and choose the ‘Early Dismissal’ option. We appreciate having as much advanced notice as possible

¨ How do I find out about my child's Discipline and Attendance issues?

¨ How do I find out about my child's fees?

Please visit your parent portal for fees; payments are handled through MySchoolBucks or in person

¨ Whom do I contact about Medical Concerns?

¨ Where can my student go for tutoring help within the school?

Students may receive tutoring help from fellow students in the different honor societies.

¨ Where can I find a school supply list?

Each teacher will provide a list (usually in their syllabus) during the first week of the semester

¨ How should my student be preparing for school over the summer?

We encourage students to read and write over the summer for their own enjoyment. If your student

is going into and Honors or AP class there may be a summer assignment which can be found on the

Chaparral website

¨ What is community service and is my student required to participate?

Twenty hours of documented community service at a non-profit are needed as part of the CDE

graduation requirements. Opportunities and resources to volunteer are in the daily announcements

¨ Where do I drop and pick-up my student? How do I find out bus information?

Use the one-way drop-off loop in the main parking lot. For bus transportation information please call 303.387.0415 or use the DCSD website under transportation

¨ Where will I find the bell schedule for inclement weather days, special event days?

Refer to the Chaparral website as well as the parent’s newsletter, the Wolverine Weekly.

¨ Where can I find the school calendar?

The school calendar is on both the Chaparral website and the DCSD website. We use the conventional calendar.

¨ Who is my student’s counselor and how do they set-up an appointment with their counselor?

Counselors are assigned by alpha breakdown, which can be found on our website along with

their phone numbers and emails. Student’s may come by the counseling office and complete a

slip to see their counselor. Counselors will send the student a pass through class to see them.

If a parent would like to request a meeting with the counselor, they should contact them by

email or phone a set-up an appointment.

¨ How do I find out about Activities and Clubs?

You can find Activity and Club information by selecting Activities, Clubs, and Societies under the Athletics & Activities tab found on the CHS homepage of the website. ¨ How do I find out about AP Exams?

¨ Who may receive a parking pass?

Parking passes are for junior and senior students only. Chaparral has limited parking and not

every student who applies will receive a parking pass.
