Volunteers

The Lane Library staff depends on the invaluable assistance provided by Library Volunteers. Volunteers help us to check in and re-shelve over 24,00 items during the course of an average school year.

Volunteers will be scheduled each morning from 8:30 - 9:30. Ideally a volunteer will work the same day of the week every other week and can call other volunteers or a pool of substitutes if they cannot make their scheduled time. Volunteers will collect books from bins outside the classrooms, check in the collected books, and re-shelve books. In the rare occurrence that the shelving is all caught up, volunteers may be asked to help with other tasks such as processing new books during their shift. If volunteers are needed for student projects and activities with particular classes, they will be scheduled through the classroom teacher.

Volunteers must respect the privacy of our students.
