Course Description
Through studio practice, application of design concepts and informed decision making, students will assemble a body of artwork that demonstrates a high level of quality and growth over time of content, techniques and process. Students are expected to work independently, using experimentation, informed and critical decision-making, and research to develop ideas for their artwork. Students will develop mastery in concept, composition and execution. Students may choose to submit this body of work to the AP College Board for feedback and possible college credit.
Artistic Integrity
Students are expected to use artistic integrity throughout the course. Work that is based on published photographs or imagery by other artists must move beyond duplication to illustrate unique concepts and student voice. Copyrighted imagery or published images may only be used as references, and the artwork must be significantly altered to express the student’s concepts and personal expressions. Originality will be encouraged through drawing from real life observation, and developing original compositions and ideas through innovative use of materials, processes, and techniques.
