Stocklmeir adheres to policies set forth by CUSD and the state of California. Here you will find some of these policies that are frequently asked about.
Students are encouraged to miss school as least often as possible. However, there are some instances when absences cannot be avoided. Here are some policies regarding your child's attendance:
Illness: If your child has a fever or has vomited, he/she may not come to school unless he/she has been symptom-free for at least 24 hours without the help of medication.
COVID Recommendations: Based on the California Department of Public Health, a person who tests positive for COVID, regardless of vaccination status, should stay home for at least 5 days. Positive COVID tests should be reported to the school through ParentSquare. If symptoms are mild or not present, your child can return to school after the 5th day but should wear a mask indoors for a total of 10 days. If fever or symptoms are present, your child should continue to isolate until symptoms improve or for up to 10 days.
Extended Absences: If you anticipate your child being absent for an extended amount of time, please be aware that the district no longer offers independent studies. If your child's extended absence extends beyond 10 days, he/she may be dropped from our roster and you will need to re-register upon your return. We cannot send work home prior to your child's absence; however, we may (if appropriate) send missed assignments home upon your child's return to the classroom. This work would be optional for your child to complete and does not need to be returned.
Leaving Early: If you need to get your child during the school day before dismissal time, you need to go to the office to sign him/her out. Once you have signed your child out, one of the secretaries will call our classroom and your child will be sent to the office to meet you.
If your child will be absent from school, you need to report the absence through ParentSquare.
Students should be at school no earlier than 8:15 and should be at their classrooms by 8:30. Your child is considered late if he/she arrives to the classroom after the second bell (8:30). If your child arrives after 8:30, and our classroom door is closed, they are considered "late" and must go to the office to get a "late slip" in order to come to class.
CUSD follows the California guidelines regarding healthy food choices. This means that we are limited to one "treat" per month. These treats are typically served during class parties and/or other class events. Therefore, students may not bring in other treats to share with the class for their birthdays.
Stocklmeir has a closed campus during the school day, which means that non-staff and non-students should not be on campus without first checking into the office and receiving a visitor/volunteer badge. If you need to bring your child something during the school day (such as a lunch, a snack, something for day care, etc.), you must take it to the office and leave it with one of the secretaries. They will call or email me to let us know that you have dropped it off, and we will send your child to get it from the office (most likely at recess or lunch). Please do not bring these things to the classroom, as it disturbs the learning happening during our school day.
In order to volunteer at any CUSD school, volunteers must have a negative TB test result on file with the office, and they must also have been fingerprinted with those files sent to CUSD. TB test results are valid for 4 years, and fingerprinting only needs to be done once during your entire volunteering time with CUSD. Unfortunately, without both of these items being on file with our office, you will not be allowed to volunteer for class events.
Volunteers will also need to sign the CUSD Volunteer form/agreement.
According to the state of California, schools may not require parents to pay for field trips or classroom supplies but may ask for donations for these things. Even though you are not required to donate for the cost of our field trips, please be aware that the school/district does not have funds to pay for these events. If we don't receive adequate funding from parent donations, we will not be able to go on the field trips we have planned. As well, please be aware that the school/district does not have much funding for our classroom supplies. The supplies we request for our first grade classrooms are not typically funded by the school. Therefore, any supplies we are missing for our classrooms must be provided by our own (the teachers') personal funds. As much as we love our students and wish we had unlimited personal funds, it is very difficult to have all of these supplies be funded by us and our families. Therefore, any support with these donations is greatly appreciated!!!
