Extra Homework Ideas - Optional

If you're still looking for something for your student to do at home, you can find some ideas below. Remember, these are just some suggestions and are optional -- these ideas are not required, and nothing needs to be turned in for them.

Here are some extra ideas:

    • Play outside with friends

    • Play a sport

    • Read aloud to each other

    • Discuss allowances and plans for spending it

    • Count money and make change

    • Measure objects and/or distances

    • Cooking: read recipes, measure, and clean up!

    • Use calculators

    • Complete chores to build a feeling of responsibility

    • Activities using maps and/or globes

    • Activities using dictionaries, thesauruses, and/or encyclopedias

    • Games involving words and/or numbers

    • Trips to the library

    • Family trips to museums, historical spots, etc.

    • Puzzles: word and/or jigsaw

    • Activities using newspapers

    • Discriminating T.V. viewing (1/2 hour per day)

    • Tell stories

    • Arts and crafts activities: sewing, woodworking, etc.

    • P.E. skills

    • Card games: Uno, Crazy 8s, 21, Memory, etc.
