Hello! My name is Jenny Morrissey, and I am super excited to teach first grade again this year! First grade is a truly magical year, full of so much growth and development in the students. I had the joy of starting my experiences with first graders 12 years ago, and I have loved seeing the extraordinary energy and enthusiasm in the first graders. I'm so happy to be returning to this grade level once again!
I wanted to take this opportunity to give you a little information about my background. I was lucky enough to begin my teaching career here at Stocklmeir in 1994 and have truly loved the students, parents, staff, and community involved with this school. I left Stocklmeir during the 2002-2003 school year to work as a technology resource teacher in the Instruction Department at Cupertino's district office, where I focused on helping teachers use and integrate technology into their curriculum. Despite the rewards of that position, I realized that my heart belonged in the classroom and was fortunate enough once again to return to Stocklmeir during the 2003-2004 school year. This will be my 31st year in the district, and I have had the opportunity to instruct teachers, first graders, second graders, and third graders during those years.
On a more personal side, I grew up in Saratoga with my parents and my older sister, Kris. I attended Cupertino schools myself, graduating from Blue Hills Elementary, Miller Middle, and Lynbrook High School. I received a B.A. in psychology with a minor in teacher education from the University of California, San Diego, and I received my teaching credential from Santa Clara University. Currently, I live in Sunnyvale with my husband, Mark, our two children, Michael and Taylor, and our dogs Bodie and Riley. Since we live in Stocklmeir's attendance area, both our children were Stocklmeir Pandas and have since graduated on to high school and college. Taylor is currently a senior at Saint Francis High School, and Michael is a sophomore at Arizona State University. As a family, a lot of our time has been encompassed by Michael's and Taylor's sports and other activities. Other interests of mine include shopping, scrapbooking, baking, cooking, reading, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
