For any trip, a lot of planning, (SLO) is necessary. Teaching is like a Road Trip. First you decide on your destination (Subject Area), acquire background information about the destination (Data), decide what it's going to take to get there (standards), determine your primary point of interest (Growth Target), plan how you're going to get there (Instruction), adjust for detours along the way (Formative Assessments) and reach your final destination (Post Assessment).
This year all teachers are required to write SLOs except A1 teachers. A1 teachers are those teachers who teach value-added courses exclusively. Value-added courses for this school year include the following:
Elementary and Middle School Tests: Grades 4-8 – English Language Arts and Mathematics; Grade 5 and 8 – Science.
End-of-Course Tests for High School Credit: Algebra I, Geometry, Integrated Mathematics I and II, English Language Arts I and II, American History, American Government and Biology.
Note: Teachers who do not have any type of Student Growth Measures (SGM) for the school year are NOT eligible for the less frequent evaluation cycle.
SLOs are due to principals Monday, October 8th, 2018
