  • The Common App
    • What is the Common App?
      • The Common App is a college application that allows you to choose multiple schools to apply for by using one application. Not all schools use the common app. You can explore what schools in each state Here .
• Prepared your resume/ written the requested essay
  • Answer the question directly
  • Do not procrastinate
  • Remember you are writing to an adult, present yourself accordingly, no text language.
  • Do not over use the thesaurus
  • Avoid writing about extreme topics
  • Common App- Sample Essay Questions
    • These are taken directly from the Common App.
      • Not all colleges will use these exact questions- but!! You can practice and or write these essays. They may apply to college application questions or even scholarship application questions.
• Compiled a "Activities Page"
  • What did you do in your four years of high school?
  • Start with the most recent
    • Football team, student government, volunteered at the animal shelter, etc.
• Request Transcripts to be sent. They must be official--go see Mrs. Tirpak
  • Please provide her with:
    • Name of the school
    • The correct address for the transcripts to be sent to
• Does the application ask for letters of recommendation? Did you ask teachers for them yet?
  • Allow a least seven to fourteen days for the letter to be written
• Gather all paperwork and mail application
• Applied for Scholarships?
• Completed your FAFSA?

• On the College Webpage
• Typically under the "Admissions" or "Undergraduate" tab
  • On-line version or paper version
    • Use BLACK ink

What should my resume look like?

• Brief yet thorough
• 1 page only
• Highlight what the college is looking for
• List most recent accomplishments first
• Provide valid and reliable contact information (name, address, email, phone number)
• Avoid making it look "pretty"
  • Keep colors mellow
    • Only use color for headers: black, blue, purple, green
