8th grade students will be placed into required CORE courses through set course pre-requisites AND teacher recommendations. Students MUST be meeting course pre-requisites at the time of placement (must be meeting course pre-requisite AT THIS TIME).
REQUIRED Core Courses for ALL Freshman
ENGLISH 9, MATH (ALGEBRA 1 OR GEOMETRY), PHYSICAL SCIENCE, MODERN WORLD HISTORY
Once all core courses are placed, we will mail home a core course verification form for parents to sign and return. This provides us with confirmation that students and families are aware and agree to the placements listed in students schedule.
8th Grade students will be given the opportunity to complete the Elective Course Request Form. Electives will be placed into schedules after all core courses have been scheduled. Electives chosen on this course request form will be placed into student schedules if those courses are available in their open slots on their schedules. This IS NOT their guaranteed schedule.
Students will meet with Mrs. Cleghorn individually once all schedules are built.

Mrs. Cleghorn will be meeting with ALL 8th grade students on March 24th. In this meeting, 8th graders will be provided with a PRE Freshman Orientation PowerPoint presentation (Transition from Middle School to High School and Summary of Graduation Requirements) with guided notes AND an Elective Course Request form that will need to be completed and due back to Mrs. Cleghorn by Thursday March 26th. Class of 2030 Summary of Graduation Requirements
The Summary of Graduation Requirements highlights what will be tracked for each student in the High School Counseling Office starting in their Freshman year. We will meet with students 2 times per year to outline their progress in these areas and discuss post-secondary plans with them as well.
9th Grade Elective Course Request Form
The 9th Grade Elective Course Request Form is due back to Mrs. Cleghorn by March 26th. Each student should complete this form. This is the student's opportunity to select electives that they would like to have placed in their schedules if there is availability. There is no minimum. Students should select all electives (including required) that they would be interested in taking. Electives are placed into students available class periods once all core courses have been scheduled.
