The Columbia County Planning Department is a member of the statewide network of New York State Data Center Affiliates. The Department maintains Census and related economic and demographic data and provides local information services to local government, business, and the public.

2022 ACS Columbia County Data

The American Community Survey (ACS)  is an ongoing survey that provides annual data. For Columbia County, and for municipalities in Columbia County, these data are 5-year averages which are updated and released each year.

       County Business Patterns has been produced as a consistent, annual series since 1964 and ZIP Code Business  Patterns since 1994. 

2018 Non-Employer Statistics

Nonemployer Statistics provide annual economic data for businesses that have no paid employees and are subject to federal income tax. The data consist of the number of businesses and total receipts by industry. Most nonemployers are self-employed individuals operating unincorporated businesses (known as sole proprietorships), which may or may not be the owner's principal source of income.

The Climate Act charged the Climate Justice Working Group (CJWG) with the development of criteria to identify disadvantaged communities to ensure that frontline and otherwise underserved communities benefit from the state’s historic transition to cleaner, greener sources of energy, reduced pollution and cleaner air, and economic opportunities

Census tracts that are overburdened and underserved are highlighted as being disadvantaged on the map. Federally Recognized Tribes, including Alaska Native Villages, are also considered disadvantaged communities.
