November’s Junior High Student of the Month is Mr. Hayden Siegel. Hayden is in 9th grade. English is his favorite class because it is really fun. Hayden loves playing golf and has played since he was very young. He also plays basketball. Passing 9th grade is his goal for this school year. His favorite part about school is being able to see his friends, Bella and Monica. Ms. Pierce is his favorite teacher because she pushes him to always do better. Hayden’s hobbies include playing golf, hunting, and hanging out with his friends. Fish is Hayden’s favorite food because he says it tastes like the beach. Neon green is his favorite color because it pops out! Journey is his favorite band. If he could travel anywhere it would be to Hawaii with his family and Monica, Hayden, and Sydney. Hayden admires his mom the most. Finally, his favorite quote is, “If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you’ll find an excuse.”.

November’s Senior High Student of the Month is Miss Mackenzie Alcorn. Mackenzie is a junior this year and she has 3 sisters. English with Ms. Sommers is her favorite class because she says Ms. Sommers is a great teacher and cares a lot about the success of her students. Her favorite teacher is Mrs. Meals because she made Mackenzie want to go into the biology field. Her goal for this year is to get a 4.0 GPA at least one quarter. She wants to become a vet when she grows up! Mackenzie takes piano lessons outside of school. Her hobbies include hanging out with her boyfriend, spending time with her family, riding, art and music. Raspberries are Mackenzie’s favorite food. Europe is where she would like to travel to someday. The person Mackenzie admires the most is her mom. She says she is hardworking and puts family, blood or not, before herself. Words of wisdom according to Mackenzie are, “You become what you believe yourself to be.”

Mr. Ochs!

How long have you been teaching? 10 years; All at C-L!

What classes and grades have you taught during your career? I’ve taught Algebra and Algebra II and Science 7, 8, and 9. I’ve taught grades 7th-12th.

In high school, what was your favorite subject? I liked gum, lunch, math, science, and art.

What is your favorite part of being a teacher? I like kids; they make me laugh. I like students that care about learning new things.

Did anyone inspire you to become a teacher? My high school biology teacher.

Do you advise any groups? I advise Science Olympiad.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not teaching? I like hunting, four wheelers, the outdoors, camping, and mechanics. I really enjoy gardening and canning my own food. I make sauerkraut, pickles, sauces, soups, and vegetables. My children also enjoy helping as well. It’s very rewarding to produce your own food.

Is there anything you would like to share about your family? They are beautiful!

What are some words of wisdom or a favorite quote that you would like to share with the student body? Don’t give up! Life is not always easy, hard work pays off.
