This meeting is going to be a very practical training. So, we will start with a pedagogic training in learning communities.
At first, the Spanish partner (with experience in teachers training) will prepare a small seminar about the basis of dialogic learning and the successful educational actions for the teachers of the project. They will analyse the theory and they will be able to practice between them pedagogic gatherings or interactive groups. Besides, they will be able to see how learning communities can be introduced in a school analysing the Spanish project and the results.
In the second place will be the observation phase. The teachers will be able to see how an interactive group works in class, a literary gathering about classical reading with students, how the volunteers (families, old students,..) are organized to go into the class, or how we can involve the families in the pedagogic coffees (when we can talk about educational topics or problems).
Throughout this training, we are going to make different workshops to set activities, schedule, next meeting. So, for example, in one workshop we will set the activities for the last meeting in Spain, establishing a classical reading for this meeting (and it must be read before the encounter), or defining topics (to work previously with them in each country) to make interactive groups between the students of the different institutions.
Of course, we are going to visit the mayors of the close villages, we are going to visit some towns (like the medieval town of Cáceres) with valious heritages and special protection natural areas that will be scenes of learning activities in the next visit with students.
The main part of these activities will take place during the normal school day, so the teachers will be able to observe, evaluate and ask about the system and they will also be able to interact with all the members of the community (students, teachers, families.
During the meeting school coordinators will discuss if parts of the project like management, division of tasks, evaluation or dissemination need adjustment. They will discuss budget control and schedule of international learning, teaching and training activities.
Meeting Plan and Its Development
The training meeting was developed in Ceclavín, between 19th - 22nd November of 2018 and the meeting plan was the following:
Monday 19th of November
The teachers of the different schools arrived in Madrid on Sunday and then they traveled together by bus to Cáceres, where the teachers checked into their hotel and they restedThis day, they traveled to Ceclavín and in the secondary school “Cella Vinaria”, the group of teachers began the activities:
First contact with the school, teachers, and students. The teachers could meet with a group of students involved in the project. The students could know more about the other schools and countries and they had a short time to express their doubts, motivations, and questions
A gathering for coffee with families, regional educational minister, and mayors of the villages (successful educational action to improve
the links with families and institutions). The school had sent the invitation to this event to all families and institutions. The result was that more than fifty
people shared this experience. The regional educational minister started givingthanks for this kind of activities that allow establishing constructive
talks between the different agents involved in the educational process. Then, we organized four tables, and in each one, there were two moderators
(one for English language and another for Spanish). In each table was launched a question to guide the talk and every fifteen minutes, the people
changed to the next table. This was a great experience to understand the possibilitiesof learning communities and the power that we can get in
education if we work together.
Workshop on dialogic learning. José Manuel Galán (headmaster and coordinator of "Dialogic Revolution" in Cella Vinaria school) gave this workshop to the teachers of the other schools. He taught the foundation of dialogic learning, the psychology process theory, the researches about this educational way, the successful educational actions and he finally made a practice, and in this, the teachers could test the different roles in this kind of educational experiences.
In the evening we went on a tourist route near Ceclavín and we had the opportunity to visit Alcántara village, the Roman bridge, and other interesting sites. All of them are going to be scenes of activities with the students in the Spanish meeting.
Tuesday 20th of November
After breakfast we continued with the workshops:
Workshop on active methodology. Carolina Conejero (head of studies and coordinator of "Dialogic Revolution" in Cella Vinaria school) ran this workshop for the teachers of the other schools. In this, the teachers analized the bases to involve our students with active methodology like gaming and she gave useful tips to apply in the class.
Observing and analyzing a literary gathering. The teachers could step in and observe a literary gathering about “The picture of Dorian Gray”. This book had been read beforehand by third level students. The teachers took notes about the organization, running and advantages of this activity .
At noon, the group went on a boat tour along Alagón river (Special Protected Natural Area), place where we are going to make activities with the students when they come to visit us.
In the evening we went on a tourist route around Portuguese villages on the border. The history of our area is close to these villages, so these have a lot of important cultural meaning to understand the past time when we stage our play.
Finally, there will be free time to have dinner and rest.
Wednesday 21st of November
We finished with the workshops in our school:
Workshop on aims and targets. We held this workshop with one clear idea. After knowing a learning community like us and living different experiences, we understood that something changed in our minds and this is why it is very important to analyze the aims and targets of our project and put in common guidelines that we treat as primary concerns. We don’t have to forget that the idea was to create a big community learning adding the four schools with all their differences, backgrounds and feelings.
Workshop on Communication. Maybe one of the most difficulties in the Erasmus + projects is the communication. We had experimented this during the process to build the project and along the organization of training meeting. All teachers understood that spending time to talk about the communication between schools, rules, ways, channels…., was necessary to avoid problems in the future. We established a group of rules to take care of our communication.
Observing and analyzing an interactive group.(another successful educational action to improve the skills and the motivation in our students). The teachers went into a class where the students worked in an interactive group. They could observe the role of volunteers (mothers and administrative staff of our school), the organization, the times to take turns in the activities,... The teachers took note and asked all their doubts about this kind of activity while they observed.
Afterwards, we came back to Cáceres where the teachers went on a tourist walk around Cáceres old town, another place where the students are going to make activities when they visit us.
Thursday 22nd of November
We met in the hotel to hold the last workshop along the morning:
Workshop on Conclusions: with this we tried to sum up all the activities, decisions and guidelines established along the training meeting (aims and targets, skills and tasks to develop, methodology, activities and final schedule). In addition, we made a meeting evaluation to draw points to improve the next meetings.
Finally we made the farewell and the teachers group took the transfer to Madrid.
