This course is an introduction to basic printmaking and photo editing processes. Students will create designs and adjust photo imagery using Art Elements and Principles of Design. Basic printing skills will be used when working with a range printing medium. Common photography and photo editing skills will also be acquired as students will use photo editing software, various photo media and a large format printer to gain experience in the art of photo manipulation and expression. Printmaking project works include: Relief (Linoleum), DryPoint Engraving, Embossing, Hand-Cut Screen, Multi-colored Reduction, 3-D, Paper Block Out, and Monoprints. Photo edited projects range from adjustments and alterations, color to black & white and filter uses to capture the attention of the viewer. Students will create and develop a printmaking and photo portfolio website as they make their prints and altered photos. This course is a semester-long course; however, a second semester can be taken with instructor's consent.
