Drawing & Composition

Course Description:

This is an introductory course which allows students to use and apply basic drawing skills and techniques, such as: line, form, value and perspective. Students learn and apply the fundamental techniques of composition through drawing with a variety of materials. This course develops the student’s awareness and application of the Art Elements and Principles of Art & Design. Skills of representational drawing, judging proportion, creating volume and depicting the illusion of space will be presented each semester. Students are also encouraged to use digital media, graphite, charcoal, colored pencil, pen and ink, pastel, and oil pastel. Student Artists will create, design and develop a Portfolio Website showing their project work skills and improvements. Each semester will present students with different projects and materials. This allows students to join either semester or take Drawing and Composition Level 1 for the full year.
