How Children Develop Musically
Taught by: Lili Levinowitz
Music is a way of knowing and it is a uniquely integrating experience: it coordinates a person’s breath, voice, vision, hearing, body brain, kinesthetic sense, and emotion, while stimulating interaction with others. Through experiences with singing, moving and instrument play, the participants will gather information regarding how children grow musically and how the adult can foster that music development through rich music experiences.

Development Milestones for Children and Youth in the Arts-Movement
Taught by: Gayle Gates
This presentation will provide an overview of developmental body movement. Normal stages of development from birth to adolescence will be presented examining the relationship of the body, movement and non-verbal behaviour to emotional, social and cognitive stages of development. Movement experiences will be introduced that address developmental issues and provide opportunities for creative and expressive interaction and communication. The body and movement are integral to and interrelated with emotional expression, interpersonal interaction and communication and all aspects of development. Our body and non -verbal behaviour express a biological reality, our personality, developmental processes, family and culture and provide a primary vehicle for creative expression.
