Mark Lyons is director of the Philadelphia Storytelling Project, which uses digital storytelling to give participants the opportunity to tell their stories, to reflect on their experiences and honor their lives, and give them a voice which will be heard by the larger world. Participants write stories or interview others about their experiences as immigrants or teens, and record, edit and mix their stories to create an audio piece that can be shared in their communities and played on podcasts, websites and the radio. Mark also does workshops with teachers on doing community oral histories. He is co-editor of Espejos y Ventanas / Mirrors and Windows, Oral Histories of Mexican Farmworkers and Their Families, which is published in Spanish and English.He writes fiction which has been published in several literary journals, and is the recipient of Pennyslvania Council of the Arts Fellowships for 2003 and 2009.
