We have some very exciting things happening in technology at BT this year due to some generous benefactors! The highlights are below, but watch for more updates as the technology actually starts rolling into place. It's been busy fall, but certainly the kind of busy this techie has LOVED!
First, we received a donation early in the year, and along with help from the Legacy Grant program through the archdiocese, we are finally able to upgrade our teacher and administrative staff computers. Teachers will move to the Mac OS, and the staff will move to brand new Lenovo desktop computers, along with finishing replacing our old CRT monitors with flat panels.
We also were awarded a grant through the Public Utilities Commission, thanks to some fabulous work by Melissa Cavanaugh, that will fund part or all of a project that will bring school-wide wireless to both of our school buildings.
Some of you are aware of our Give To The Max Day push to match what the Legacy Grant dedicated for an iPad/iPod launch for students and teachers. We successfully matched those funds that day, and so the next task I'll undertake with our Technology Committee is to do some research about different tablet options for our classrooms.
