About Warehouses/Yards
Warehouses consist of multiple Areas (or Zones in case of Yards). Each area consists of one or more Storage locations. Selecting a warehouse displays the list of areas within the warehouse. Selecting an area displays the list of storage locations within the area.
When you add an "Area" under a warehouse it will ask for following information:
Code - A unique Area Code across the warehouse.
Name : The the Unique Area name across the warehouse.
Storage Coordinates: Defines the dimensionality of the storage locations within the area. See explanation below.
Coordinate-1/2/3: The name for the storage coordinate
Active: Defines whether the area is active
Storage Locations
Before you can create storage locations, you need to define the Storage coordinates for the area. Storage coordinates define how items are stored in the area as below:
Zero: The area has no storage coordinates and items can be put anywhere in the area without any reference. In such a case, you will only be able to create one storage location within that area.
One: The area is divided into a singular numbering system. For example: Location A, B, C, etc.
Two: The area is divided into a 2 dimensional grid. You can define the name of the Coordinates such as Row and Column. Each storage location must have both coordinates defined.
Three: The area is divided into a 3-dimensinal grid. You can define the name of all three coordinates such as Row, Column, Shelf. Each storage location must have all 3 coordinates defined.
