MEET MR. MURPHY

Hi! Welcome to MURPHY'S SCIENCE PAGE!!! I hope that this website has helped you throughout your science experiences. This is my THRITEENTH year teaching at Benton Community School's and let me tell you, "ITS GREAT TO BE A BOBCAT!!" Throughout my five years here at Benton Community, I have taught Chemistry, Biology, and Integrated Science class. I am certified to teach all sciences in the high school. So, if you have a science question, I'm your man!! Or if you don't have a question, feel free to stop into MUTOPIA (or Rm. 209) if you just want to talk. My door is always open!! I also enjoy after school activities at Benton, I coach Football and Wrestling. I also enjoy watching the Benton Community students compete in all the activities they are involved in.

In the 2006-2007 school years, I started at Benton Community, prior to coming to Benton Community. I grew up in Manchester, Ia with 3 younger sisters and my parents. After graduating High School at West Delaware, I attended Wartburg College and majored in Biology. While at Wartburg I wrestled for Coach Jim Miller and the Knights. GO-KNIGHTS!!! I also enjoy Bow Hunting, Pheasant Hunting with my dogs, Walleye Fishing, and spending time with my family!!!

In the summer of 2007, my wife Beth and I were married. Beth and I lived in Atkins,Ia for 7 years and then moved to Van Horne, Iowa 5 years ago. My wife Beth works at AEGON Financial Services in Cedar Rapids, Ia. I met Beth at Wartburg College, I enjoy spending every free minute with her. She keeps me organized and grounded! I owe her more than she will ever know!

We were blessed on May 12, 2009 with our first daughter Bailey Ann Murphy, then our second child Clare Margret Murphy was born on April 25, 2011. and finally our third child Raymond Joseph Murphy on October 15, 2013. All three children have been a wonderful addition to our family. FAMILY is one of the most important values that I have been raised with, I love every minute with my wife and kids! I really love to take all of them with me on my hunting and fishing trips. We are always BUILDING MEMORIES that last a lifetime!
