There will be a Chp 1-11 quiz, a Chp 12-22 quiz, and a Chp 23-31 quiz. Each will contain 25 multiple choice questions and will be completed via Google forms. You should be familiar with:
- meaning (plot/conflict, characterization, thematic development, symbols/motifs)
- technique (irony, point of view, tone, figurative language devices, form, genre)
- context (connections to history/culture and considerations about author's purpose, situation, and audience)
- Try answering the Chapter Questions, as you will see some of them on the quizzes! You are also welcome to use these for your Reading Log.
- For Chp 1-11 quiz, ensure you know the following terms: explicit vs implicit, idiom, prejudice, bildungsroman, allusion, omniscient, liberal, trope, metaphor, simile, symbol, motif, hyperbole, imagery.
- For Chp 12-22 quiz, ensure you know the following terms: metaphor, simile, symbol, motif, hyperbole, understatement, metonymy, analogy, jargon, allusion.
- For Chp 23-31 quiz, ensure you know the following terms: irony, static/round/flat/dynamic, atmosphere, tone, mood, theme, symbol, colloquialism, paradox, allusion, motif, foreshadowing, imagery, metaphor.
