Harvard Radcliffe Choral Society Concert
Join Harvard University's Radcliffe Choral Society for a performance at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in New York City! One of the oldest collegiate women's choruses in the nation, RCS will perform repertoire ranging from the Renaissance to today, including works by Monteverdi, Brahms, Barber, Copland, and more.
Founded by Elizabeth Agassiz, the first president of Radcliffe College, in 1899, the Radcliffe Choral Society is one of the oldest collegiate women’s choruses in America. RCS first achieved national prominence beginning in 1912, under the leadership of Dr. Archibald T. Davison. Davison and his successors G. Wallace Woodworth, Eliott Forbes, and Jameson Marvin conducted the Radcliffe Choral Society, the Harvard Glee Club, and the Harvard-Radcliffe Collegium Musicum.
In recent years, the Choral Society has performed a rich and distinctive repertoire embracing nine centuries of choral literature for treble voices: sacred and secular, a cappella and accompanied, concerted and choral-orchestral. Thirty-two national and eight international tours have earned for the Radcliffe Choral Society considerable acclaim for their inspired and communicative performances. This year marks the Choral Society's second season conducted by Andrew Clark, who replaced Jameson Marvin when the latter retired in 2010. In May of this year, RCS will embark on an international tour to Turkey, Bulgaria, Serbia, and Croatia.
