Alcona FFA KidTube S.A.E. Project

2014-2015 School Year

EweTube Project History

From 2011-2014 the Alcona FFA AgriScience Program was active with their EweTube project with the main goal to further educate AgriScience students, FFA members and community members on agriculture – specifically sheep production and entrepreneurship. This project was launched by former FFA member, Amanda Swinson, with the main goal in mind to further promote AgriScience and FFA to the world. Swinson and the FFA chapter jointly owned the two sheep, Bertha and Gwen. Upon Swinson's graduation in 2012 the project evolved into an FFA members S.A.E. (supervised agricultural experience) project. Former FFA member Hannah Terpstra took over the project in conjunction with her sister, Alisssa Terpstra. After Swinson's graduation she continued to partner with the FFA on the project and brought the bred sheep into the AgriScience Shop during winter break. As coordinators the Terpstra's led in caring, monitoring their health, and documenting their expenses for the sheep.

KidTube

KidTube was launched in the fall of 2014 when the Alcona FFA AgriScience program and FFA Chapter realized it would not be possible to continue the EweTube project with Gwen and Bertha due to age and other logistics. 2015 senior FFA member Seth Tulgetske is an extremely active in the Alcona County 4-H Youth Development Organization. Through his 4-H projects he raises, shows and markets goats at the Alcona County Fair. This led to the Alcona FFA Chapter partnering with the June-Tulgetski family to continue the livestock production and entrepreneurship project at Alcona; hence "KidTube."
