Alcona FFA EweTube S.A.E. Project

By: Amanda Swinson, Hannah Terpstra, and Alissa Terpstra

S.A.E. Completion: August 2014

In 2011 the Alcona FFA AgriScience Program started the “EweTube” project to further educate AgriScience students, FFA members and community members on agriculture – specifically sheep production and entrepreneurship. Former FFA member, Amanda Swinson, started this project with the main goal in mind to further promote AgriScience and FFA to the world. Today this project as evolved into an advanced AgriScience student’s project. Hannah Terpstra, 2014 Alcona Community Schools graduate, took over the project upon Amanda's graduation in 2012. Hannah served as the Coordinator for the project in 2014 and her sister Alissa Terpstra served as the Co-Coordinator. As coordinators for the project Hannah and Alissa fed, cared for the sheep, monitored their health, documented their expenses and more. This project was both Hannah and Alissa's S.A.E. or supervised agricultural experience.

This S.A.E. project has allowed Alcona FFA members to get real world placed based education (or hands on learning) at Alcona Community Schools everyday!
