S.A.E. Projects

S.A.E. Projects

An agricultural education is made up of three integrated parts:

Entrepreneurship

Own and operate an agricultural business

Examples: Lawn care service, producing maple syrup and selling it, processing trout and selling fillets, etc.

Placement

FFA members get a job or internship on a farm or ranch, agriculture-based business, or in a school or factory laboratory. An FFA member is placed in their S.A.E. project. For example, the Alcona FFA Chapter EweTube project is an FFA members S.A.E. project in placement.

Research and Experimentation

Plan and conduct a scientific experiment. For example, FFA members can determine whether the phases of the moon affect and determine the efficacy of different welding methods.

Exploratory

This S.A.E. category gives FFA members the opportunity to explore careers in agriculture by attending an agriculture career fair, or creating a report or documentary on the work of a veterinarian.

The four categories an FFA members S.A.E. can fall into are as follows:

S.A.E. are hands-on, feet-wet projects that all FFA members are encouraged to participate in. These projects allow FFA members to learn by doing. With help from their Agricultural Instruction and FFA Advisor, students develop an S.A.E. project based on one or more S.A.E. categories.

1) FFA

2) Classroom Instruction

3) S.A.E. or Supervised Agricultural Experience
