Post date: Apr 03, 2020 2:53:10 AM

Happy Friday, Scholars!!! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

GRADES -- today is the last day of Q3 -- I will get to your online journal and new assignments in the morning -- and your makeup work and give you a good idea of what you need hopefully by tomorrow afternoon! -- your late work won't be due until Monday!

I think we are going to slow down today and next week??? That sound good? .... nurture our creative side ....

We can do a couple journal entries next week -- finish these 3 assignments and your quiz next week - all for Q4 -- and then after break do some Khan Academy Writing test stuff, finish the novel, do some more poetry ...

Your assignment today begins with "shape" poems -- and by next Thursday, you will have used "shockwaves" and shapes to develop your own poem where an IMAGE is the central element of the poem -using our poem "Diameter of the Bomb" and what matters to you as inspiration!

1. FIND a SHAPE poem -- (due today, 4/3) I have included some examples of shape poems; I want you to find your own "shape" poem and see how an image or a shape can be significant to understanding a poem -- and make it fun! You will do a short reflection on your choice -- cannot be superficial and you must establish your own focus!

2. "Diameter of a Bomb" poem: Part I and Part II-- (2 class days to finish - due Tuesday, 4/7, so you will be ready for your Canvas quiz on the poem and turn in your CREATIVE POEM on Thursday, 4/9.

  • BIDFAST the poem (come on, g)uys, be creative .... use Google marking, highlighting, comments . -- or take a pic and submit that for your BIDFAST?) and then

  • use the GUIDED ANALYSIS to look more closely, more critically, and more carefully at the poem and its layers of meaning.

3. Write your own IMAGE / SHAPE poem -- this, too, is not due until the Thursday before your break -- April 9!!!
