Over the past few years there have been many developments in using robots to perform some parts of an operation.
This doesn't mean letting the robots loose to do what they want. A skilled surgeon will always be present to guide the robot to
perform the procedure, but with a greater accuracy and less damage to tissue than would occur if the surgeon was to do the operation by hand.
However, many people are uncomfortable with the idea of a robot performing a surgery on them and it may take a long time until this type of surgery
becomes more commonplace.
