Many businesses are now so dependent on the data that is stored on their computer sysstems that if it were lost or damaged they would find it very hard to carry on as normal.
When data is lost or damaged it us usually due to human error. Sometimes data is damaged deliberately or even stolen. It is important that businesses take steps to protect data form being stolen, lost or damaged. They must also make sure that they can get their data back if anything ever does happen to it.
The spread of information and communication technology (ICT) has resulted in an increase in the misuse of data that is stored electronically.
