About the training program
Corps/Squadron Program runs from 1 September to 30 June annually. The Program is divided into two categories of training opportunities:
1. Mandatory training opportunities (e.g.: session training, field training exercises, fitness testing, community service, Annual Ceremonial Review)
Fundamental Training, which are foundational and common for all elements of the Cadet Program; and
Elemental Training, which are specific to either the Sea, Army, or Air Cadet Program.
2. Discretionary training opportunities (e.g.: museum tours, familiarization flights, band, biathlon, drill team, etc.)
Elective Training, which includes all periods of instruction from the corps/squadron Qualifications, Standards, and Plans. Periods of instruction that are designated as mandatory training opportunities may be repeated as elective training; and
Optional activities which augment the Cadet Program in order to maintain cadets’ interest and tailor the Cadet Program to meet the desires and circumstances of the local community.
Cadets must complete various training opportunities in order to fulfill proficiency level program requirements (pass their level) and be considered for rank promotion.
While training opportunities must be planned and delivered, cadets are not required to attend all mandatory training to achieve the qualification for the Proficiency Level Program.
