Friday April 19

Today we:

  • Turned in packet for a grade and got it back
  • Worked on Facts page for 20 minutes
  • Watched a video on Middle Ages philosophy towards animals---Took notes and turned notes in!

Homework:

  • Facts page, according to RUBRIC and PUBLISHED due by 7 pm tonight!
  • COMPLETELY Finish the packet "Animals in the Middle Ages" this weekend. Due on Monday at the beginning of the period

Thursday April 18

Today we:

  • Packet #1-9 answers checked
  • Discussed "Animals in the Middle Ages"
  • Watched videos relating to the Animals in the Middle Ages
  • Had a choice to either start on tonight's homework or work on Facts page in class (PUBLISH IT!) (30 minutes)

Homework:

  • !!!!! Packet for "Animals in the Middle Ages" #'s 10-21 is DUE at the beginning of the period TOMORROW---Friday
  • !!!!!Facts Page, published, and following the rubric, is DUE TOMORROW at 7 p.m.--put subheadings in your facts page
  • Deadline for LATE work for weeks 1-3 is TOMORROW

Wednesday April 17

Today we:

  • Turned in PSA poster if that wasn't turned in yesterday (and turned in any other missing work)
  • Drawing by verbal instruction---Drew images of a couple of animals verbally described by Ms. Scott to show how in early history, many people drew animals ONLY based on descriptions from others---most of the results were hilarious
  • Received class text: Looking at Animals in Human History (Digital copy of text is below)
  • Received reading guide handout: Animals in the Middle Ages (Attached below)

Homework:

  • Use your RUBRIC (Found on this site...week 3, bottom of page) and COMPLETE your facts page using the criteria on the rubric--PUBLISH IT! Deadline is Friday April 19 at 7 pm. No exceptions this time around.
  • Complete Handout through #9 TONIGHT! I will check for complete answers in class tomorrow with a stamp.
  • DEADLINE for late work from weeks 1-3 is THIS FRIDAY! After that I am absolutely taking NO MORE late work from these weeks.

Tuesday April 16

Today we:

  • created a PSA (Public Service Announcement) poster informing your audience regarding the detriment of the Exotic Animal pet trade (Examples found here)---your image is an ARGUMENT calling for the end to the (illegal or unethical) Exotic Pet Trade and/ or the end of owning ENDANGERED Exotic Pets (find out what Exotic pets are endangered first!)
    • You will include facts from your notes on the videos we watched on Monday (at least 3 facts)..Facts should correlate to the animal(s) on your pictures in some way
    • You will include an image of one or more animals that you would consider an exotic animal that should never be a pet
    • You will include SOURCES from your facts (I can give you the video sources) and you may include a source from your own research (MLA formatting) ---see the rubric for your Life Overlooked facts page--we wrote down MLA format on this
    • You will make your poster on a Google Doc that is readable, formatted well
    • We will print these in class---You have 50 minutes to design and print a PSA document

Homework:

  • Finish your PSA poster if you did not turn it in in class today (YOU print it)
  • Do your facts page with proper MLA formatting of sources at the bottom (Due on Friday--be sure to PUBLISH IT!)
  • Turn in missing/late work!

  • Read a satirical article
  • Watched videos on the exotic pet trade and took notes
  • Discussed videos
