This Freeze system is applicable to all 42 Adelaide students (42 cursus CC), except the bonus days, which is only available to the students who kick off their studies after 10th July 2023.
From time-to-time certain unexpected circumstances occur that may adversely affect your ability to commit to your 42 studies. The Freeze is to replace the Anti Gravity Units (AGU).
Students can request for the Freeze to put their study on hold for exceptional circumstances for a while, or if you are going away for holiday. It allows you to focus on resolving the circumstance that is hindering your ability to make good progress. However, this system is not a way to manage your milestone deadline (or blackhole!!!).
You can request up to 3 times for maximum 180 days by yourself on the portal, and wait for the staff approval. Please make sure that you put in a reasonable and specific reason and do not leave the comment section/description empty.
You can request it in the Freeze tab in the setting on the intranet.
Each request has to be:
More than 14 days
Category: Regular
Reason: Personal/Professional/Medical/Others
Requested in advance -
Approved by Staff
With reasonable and specific reasons
Warning:
Please do not request on the same day as the start day of the Freeze.
We do not encourage students to activate Freeze without completing the Libft project, or while doing or applying for a cadetship
Reasons that will not be accepted: not managing your study time effectively / to avoid the milestone deadline or blackhole for instance)
Once the request is approved, you will not have access to your intra account and iMac on campus during the period you select, unless you use the Bonus days instead.
The system will postpone Milestones deadlines (and end of Common Core completion forecast).

If your situation allows, seek to keep in touch with your peers and the campus. Of course your Intra account will be locked whilst you on your freeze, but you are still able to connect with the campus and remain part of the 42 Adelaide community. The more you drift from the community, the harder it might be to reenergise your studies when you return.
Keep active on Discord.
Come to the campus from time-to-time to meet-up with your peers. You still have access to the campus. The access to the campus will be limited to business hours, Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm. However, you should not disturb other peers' progress.
Attend networking events.
Reach out to staff members to keep us updated.
If your situation allows, keep flexing and strengthening your coding muscles. Don’t lose the skills you have already developed. ‘Deliberate Practice’ will reinforce the skills you have developed and ensure all that you have learned at 42 Adelaide is built on, and not forgotten.
Specifically;
Look at, and use, the additional resources curated by 42 Adelaide staff members or students
Search for, and use, additional coding resources.
Talk with your peers about their coding work.
Review any notes / log-books / learning diaries you have been keeping.
Produce log-books / learning diaries of coding work completed to date.
